To the south of Ajaccio are the beaches of porticcio. There are a number of walking trails through the countryside, including the "chemin des crêtes" or trail of peaks through the scenic  hills overlooking the road to the Sanguinaire Islands. 

The English waterfall in the nearby mountains is situated about half way along the road to bastia . 

In  the centre of the island, Corte offers you a journey into the past and an excellent museum of anthropology. Close to Corte you will find the restonica valley whose peaceful scenery is perfect for a short rest .
